1.
The
Pizza by the Slice walk-up restaurant in Midtown always has pizzas made and
ready to sell, yet the line moves so slowly. This is due to the fact that they
only have one cash register and many of the late night customers that order
from the counter are slow, sloppy drunks.
2.
The
TapRide app for UF SNAP users is too buggy- sometimes you can’t see where the
van is and the app often cancels your ride request abruptly for no reason. This
might be because the app was made too quickly, programmed incorrectly, or too
many people use the app at once.
3.
Sometimes,
the mozzarella sticks at Graham Pod are hard instead of gooey. This is because
they make a bunch of them at one time and wait for them to sell out before
frying another batch.
4.
My
car’s low tire pressure lights frequently flash when my tires are fully
inflated. This is due to the fact that my car sits low to the ground and it
throws off my sensors.
5.
The
UF ISIS website is tough to use and easy to get lost in. This is because the
whole navigation system is squeezed into the side bar, which further includes
multiple drop-down menus.
6.
The
UF WiFi in general is mediocre; sometimes, my computer or phone will have to
reconnect to it multiple times an hour. This is probably due to lackluster bandwidth
or the sheer amount of people on the network.
7.
The
remote to my LED strip in my dorm is glitch-y. It only operates when it is
pointed directly at the strip’s receiver and sometimes has to be unplugged and
re-powered to even work.
8.
The
cleaning lady that comes in to my dorm on Monday mornings always wakes me up.
She knocks around 10am every time and keeps me up with her banter and pressure
cleaning of the bathroom shower.
9.
My
laundry basket has broken on two occasions because the manufacturer doesn’t
account for how much a full basket of clothes actually weighs.
10. Speaking of laundry, the machines on campus
give me error messages constantly. They are old and the Gator One slots
attached to them have trouble reading swipes.
11. Machines at Southwest Recreation Center are
always dripping with sweat. People refuse to take 30 seconds to spray it, wipe
it down and dry it off.
12. The machines and weights are also
unorganized in general. People will throw plates and plates on their bench
press, only to leave me frustrated when I have to re rack their weights before
I can even start my workout.
13. Wells Fargo is always messing up my delivery
address or my name or my card number. This is because all of the employees I
have had experiences with over the phone don’t know English as a first language
and input information incorrectly. So, I have to call back over and over to
adjust the problem, only to have a new issue arise.
14. Turlington Plaza is always a slow spot for
foot traffic and can take 5 minutes to walk 20 feet. This is because of all of
the bikers, walkers, preachers, advertisers, dancers, table-rs, etc. packed
into such small area.
15. This reminds me of another bug, which is not
being able to walk through the Oaks Mall at a reasonable pace. This is due to the
kiosk employees always trying to pull me in to their little shop as well as slow
walking customers.
16. I dislike when I get settled at the library
(Marston, for example) and put myself in work mode, only to move when I realize
I need an outlet somewhere else. There are simply not enough outlets for the
desks (about a 1 to 4 ratio).
17. Similarly, I am annoyed when I get settled
and the library is too loud for me to even concentrate. This is due to the fact
that kids want to socialize instead of study.
18. I dislike when people in line (at Chipotle,
for example) hold up the line because they don’t know what they want to order.
They don’t look at the menu before they get to the counter yet won’t offer to
let anyone pass in front of them.
19. I don’t like when my email is filled with
spam and I have to sift through to the important stuff. Every form or
subscription these days has me fill in my email and after a while, my inbox is
cluttered with advertisements for products/services.
20. Getting into sporting events at the
University of Florida can be a hassle. People don’t know which gate they are
supposed to be at and disrupt the flow of spectators or I am unable to register
for tickets in time.
This list was definitely difficult to make because it
required detailed analysis of my day-to-day life. I am a pretty easygoing guy,
so even thinking of 20 things that bug me was tough. Some of the things are
pretty insignificant, but they are nonetheless real issues I have faced.
I can totally relate to some of your bugs Ryan. I thought you did an excellent job on this assignment. You mentioned things that I would have probably never thought of but that make total sense. Specifically, I remember having trouble with the laundry machines as well in my dorm. Hopefully future gators will not experience the same frustrations that we did.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to share the link to my bug list. Feel free to check out my bug list here: http://rachelecarter.blogspot.com/2016/01/bug-list.html
ReplyDeleteHey Ryan!
ReplyDeleteYou put together a bug-list that consisted of great points. I do not believe we had one bug in common on our lists. That's not to say I don't agree with the majority of the issues you listed, though. I have definitely been the victim of faulty laundry baskets, e-mail inboxes filled with spam, and navigating football venues here at UF. As for those mozzarella sticks, your better off without those anyhow.
Just like my last peer review, we all shared the difficulty in conjuring up this list. Yet again the majority of our bugs differ from each other. It's amazing to me that I now identify with over 50 bugs between the three of our lists. I am curious to see which bugs of mine you can identify with. Cruise on over to my blog when you get a chance to get my perspective.
I enjoyed learning about what grinds your gears!

Ryan, this list was made up of bugs that I didn't even think about. The Pizza by the Slice bug saying that the single cash register makes business more difficult was super clever. Your list was very practical, the bugs being technical issues instead of people bothering you which was what my list consisted of. The bug about Isis is so true and I never really gave much thought about it before, but it is super important that as students, we are able to navigate such a critical site. While our posts are very different, I feel like you will be able to relate to some of them, as they are very relatable. Check it out!

I look forward to reading more of your blogs! They have been so interesting so far!
Your bug list includes a lot of things that are extremely annoying. I had the WiFi on my list as well. It just makes no sense with the technological advances today, why the WiFi signal in congested areas is so terrible. The sporting events one is also relate-able to me. Im a huge sports fan, and when entering a huge stadium like the swamp, you have to plan to start going in at least 30 minutes if not more before the game begins if you want to see kickoff. There has to be better organized way to keep traffic moving while entering the stadium.
