My unique human capital:
1.
I am always a very calm and collected person,
even in times of crisis. I like to be rational when I make decisions and try
not to let situational/temporal emotions cloud my perception. I trust that the
decisions I make will work out for me in the long run and don’t unnecessarily
stress myself.
2.
My sense of humor has a wide range and I can be
a goofball if I am feeling like making myself/others laugh. I pride myself in
being witty and able to see the irony or comedy behind certain situations. I
can also be an entertainer through my actions if I chose, such as dancing, body
language, and eye contact.
3.
I am technology oriented and able to
troubleshoot most devices and work my way around new software. I grew up around
computers, phones, mp3s, video game consoles, TVs, speakers, etc. and always
keep up with the latest updates. I may not know how to do everything, but I
know how to follow technological instructions when I receive them from a live
person or the Internet.
4.
I am a good communicator because I hate to bite
my tongue and regret not saying something. I am vocal when I have a strong
opinion and I’m not hesitant to talk to strangers if I want to strike up a
conversation. I try to give good advice and tell people my honest opinion about
something if they ask for it.
5.
Finally, something that may or may not be
evident by now, is my general disinterest in the opinions that others have of
me. Don’t get me wrong; I enjoy compromising with friends over disagreements
and I avoid conflict whenever possible. However, I am deliberate and confident
with my decisions and don’t give into people’s frames under pressure. I want
people to like me and I love expanding my social circle, but I won’t give into
peer pressure if it means losing my values.
Interview takeaways:
1.
My sister told me that I was very determined and
I solve problems quickly when a situation arises. She also mentioned that I was
confident and don’t let things get to my bed. Finally, I am technology savvy
and reliable when she needs me.
2.
My roommate told me that I had a good taste in
music and a good sense of humor. He also said that I was a trustworthy
confidant that he can count on to keep a secret.
3.
My gym partner told me that I was adventurous
since we always go to cool restaurants and nature spots. He also said that I
was reliable and a good caretaker. Finally, I am a good motivator because I
drag him to the gym even if he doesn’t want to go.
4.
One of my friends pointed out that I was easy to
talk to since we always chill. He also said that I was reliable and I manage my
time correctly. Finally, he complimented my energetic personality and how I can
be naturally funny and uplifting.
5.
Another friend said that I was responsible since
I help him stay on top of his fraternity leadership. Also, I am spontaneous
because I love exploring nature and going out. Finally, I am motivating because
I encourage him to study with me and get his work done.
My friends value many aspects of
my personality that I didn’t even think of. However, all 5 things I put in my
list still managed to come up! My interviewees definitely know me and I don’t
disagree with anything they said. I have a dynamic personality and I can be
calm or goofy, determined or chill, depending on the situation and what is
appropriate. I really value my spontaneity and I’m glad I am seen as a
reliable, confident, energetic person. I would not make any changes to my initial
list, though. This assignment was the most fun one yet!
I think you picked great qualities, being able to stay calm in a crisis and being passionate in what you do are so very important. I think your friends see some of the same things in you that you see in yourself and they also saw somethings that you didn't see which is great. It is always good to hear what others see in you. ReplyDeleteGreat interviews! Everyone you interviewed clearly knows you well and had great things to say about you. It's really great that you don't care what other's think about you and you are able to stay calm, even in times of crisis. Most of what the people I interviewed said about me was also on my top 5 list. You can check out my secret sauce on my blog, http://theyact.blogspot.com/2016/03/my-secret-sauce.html
ReplyDeleteRyan, you did an excellent job identifying your good qualities and your interviews also provided solid information for you to use going forward. It's great that your peers can understand and appreciate your personality. I was not able to complete the secret sauce assignment in time, so I do not have a link to share; your post showed me that a lot can be gained from this activity though.
